Hi Fi Mama
The Brief:
That Little Ol’ Band from Texas released their ninth studio album in 1985. The album was ‘Afterburner’ and it is the biggest selling album to date for ZZ Top. Five times multi-platinum in sales and a #4 position on the Billboard 200 albums chart attest to the popularity of the band in the mid-80′s. “Stages” is the second single to be released from ‘Afterburner’ and hit #1 on Billboard’s Top Rock Tracks chart in early 1986. The subject of tonight’s post is the UK 12″ release that features the extended and 7″ versions of the song.

Rock is not really my main “thang” but I love the singles they come up with from Eliminator and Afterburner, especially their remixes!
And I’ve got a really soft spot for Rough Boy.
I love the “Sleeping Bag” 12-inch, with its weird Euro/techno extended dance mix. I forgot all about “Stages” though! Gonna have to grab this one too.
Does it GET any more 1985 than that pic on the cover?
I know, right!?!?
Total driving guitars! Awesome, THANKS for this post!
Thank you very much. I didn’t have this one.
