The Brief:
The second single from Wrecks-N-Effect’s 1989 Motown LP was “Juicy”. The song heavily samples Mtume’s #1 R&B hit from 1983, “Juicy Fruit”. It was their second straight Top 10 on the Hot Rap Tracks chart. The LP itself peaked at #16 on the R&B albums chart. Group member Brandon Mitchell was tragically shot and killed the following year, making this the only album by the group that included his talents.

Long time downloaded, fairly new commenter. Cdman comment got me to thinking about how I view this blog. I’m kickin’ it at your crib while you’re digging thru the crates, dropping knowledge and personal history with each new cut. Each song causes a thread to another song, as it seems somebody always shouts “Yeah man, that’s bad, but do you have…” When the sets slides into music I love to hate, I go get another beer. Anyone who “shares” the same type of music as I, it’s only a matter of time before I’ll be front and center on the speakers again. Thanks for having me over….
