I am over 1200 miles away from home this week. I’m in Boston for the 2010 SharePoint Technology Conference. I did manage to get a break this afternoon so, I decided to seek out some local record stores and see what I could find.
Hopped in a cab at the hotel and made my first stop in Harvard Square at Planet Records. They are listed in the Store Directory in every issue of Goldmine Magazine so, that’s how they became my starting point. It was a neat little store and I dug through their crates for about 90 minutes but, didn’t really find anything that I wanted or was willing to pay their price for. So, I wandered out of there in search of the In Your Ear Records store at Harvard Square. Well, my dumb, directionless ass couldn’t find it. I did find Newbury Comics as I was walking around. They have a small selection of used records and quite a bit of new vinyl releases. Didn’t find any 12″ singles there so, I moved on.
I grabbed a cab and went over to In Your Ear Records on Commonwealth Avenue near Boston University. This is a big store and the amount of vinyl in their bins is quite impressive. I proceeded to dig through their crates and wound up spending over 2 hours in there. I dug up 9 12″ singles that I didn’t already have and laid down $15 total for my haul.
So, all in all, a good day. Eventually, today’s finds will make their way on to the blog and you guys will get to see and hear all the goodies. I’ll be back home sometime Saturday so, normal blogging should resume this weekend.
