The Brief:
The second of four singles from the 1982 album ‘Vanity 6′.  A girl group put together by Prince, it consisted of Vanity (Denise Matthews), Brenda Bennett and Susan Moonsey.  It was the only album put out under the name Vanity 6 as Denise left the Prince camp prior to the filming of ‘Purple Rain’ and was replaced by Apollonia.  The single “Nasty Girl” made its debut on the Billboard R&B Singles chart on 9/25/82.  It climbed all the way up to #7 on the chart and spent a total of 18 weeks there.  On the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart it went all the way to #1.  It spent 15 weeks on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles chart, including a record seven weeks at #101, but never cracked the Hot 100.  Song writing credits on the 45 are listed for Vanity.
