The A Side:
Neon Telephone (Extended 12″ Version) 6:28
The B Side:
Neon Telephone (LP Version) 3:57
The Brief:
So, let’s see, you’ve got yourself a pretty good little thing going here. You’re playing a genre of music, “Paisley Underground”, that one of your members is credited with defining. You’ve released a couple of indie recordings and got yourself a deal with I.R.S. Records. You’re getting airplay on radio, video exposure on MTV and quite a bit of good press and critical praise. What now? I know, sign on with Prince’s Paisley Park Records! Things are really going to take off now! Prince will contribute an upbeat song “Neon Telephone” to be released as a single and the ‘Vermillion’ LP will sell like hotcakes.
The album was a critical and commercial failure, and did not dent the charts. It was the last Three O’Clock album.

I love Vermillion. I need to find a copy of it again.
I never really got past the singles with that album.
The best thing about being a Paisley Park act was having that beautifully designed LP label.
Yes the labels were nice, a bygone pleasure of a bygone day…sigh
