The B Side:
My Drawers 3:42
The Brief:
Welcome to another Monday, Fun With Vinyl readers. Today continues our “Paisley June” where we are taking a look at vinyl releases from Prince and related artists. We just had 10 days of Prince 12” releases, now we are going to move on to some other artists that were brought into the spotlight by Prince.
Today’s post is from The Time and it is the 12” release of “The Bird” in 1984. The band had undergone a change in personnel by this time as Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis and Monte Moir had parted ways with the band. Mark Cardenas, Paul Peterson and Jerry Hubbard joined Morris Day, Jesse Johnson, Jellybean Johnson and Jerome Benton to make up the lineup of the band that was featured in the movie Purple Rain. This 12” contains a remix of “The Bird” and an edited version of “My Drawers” on the flip side. Neither of these versions has been available on CD.

This is a nice one thanks! I was looking at my The Time lossless collection and all it consists of is 12 45s and the unreleased “Corporate World” LP. At one time I actually owned all of the full length releases on CD and also had them as 320 MP3s. I’ve looked high and low on the net and nothing seems to be available in lossless. Seems to tell me that Morris Day and the Time has slipped into obscurity these days. What a shame since I’ve seen ads for concert dates here on the West Coast
Wawk!
Thanks for this in FLAC, Richie.
There never was a 12″ remix for Jungle Time, right? Just the album and edit?
Nope, no remix or extended mix for Jungle Love. Shame.
Thank you!
I stumbled onto this blog by accident, and what a treasure! You don´t know how long I´ve been searching for this. Many thanks, and please keep the blog going!
welcome to my humble little blog, stick around, you never know what will show up next
Thanks for your welcome! Let me quite humbly make some suggestions: Fish – Big Wedge, Saga – What do I know (or Take a chance), Frankie goes to Hollywood – Watching the wildlife (movement 2), Sting – If you love somebody set them free. But I look forwards to what you come up with.
addition to previous – I am not the same Johan as he who has commented before, so I´ll add an E to my name for future comments. Thanks again!
Big thanks
