Side A:
Jungle Love 3:27
Side B:
Oh, Baby 4:57
The Brief:
“Jungle Love” was the second of three singles from 1984’s ‘Ice Cream Castle’ album. It also enjoyed tremendous exposure from being featured in the movie ‘Purple Rain’. Offered here as a single edit, clocking in at 3:27, “Jungle Love” enjoyed chart success The Time had never experienced before. It jumped onto the Billboard Hot Black Singles chart on 9/22/84 and climbed into the Top 10, peaking at #6. It stayed on the chart for 17 weeks. It also cracked the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart on 10/27/84, debuting at #88. It camped out on the chart for 25 weeks, reaching a high point of #20. The flip side, “Oh, Baby” could be a trivia question… What is the only song from The Time’s debut album to not appear on a single in an edited version? “Oh, Baby” appears here in its full album length of 4:57.
