The Brief:
The first of two singles from The Time’s 1990 reunion album ‘Pandemonium’. The single “Jerk Out” made its debut on the Billboard Hot Black Singles chart on June 30, 1990. It became The Time’s first and only #1 hit on the chart and spent a total of 15 weeks on the chart. Also on June 30, 1990, “Jerk Out” entered the Billboard Hot 100 Singles at #65. It topped out at the #9 slot for two weeks and dropped off the chart after spending 15 weeks there. On the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart it climbed to #6 and charted for nine weeks. Songwriting credits on the 45 are listed as Produced, Arranged and Written by The Time.
