The Brief:
Today begins our trip through all the commercially released 7″ vinyl singles by The Time in the U.S. We begin with the first of three singles from The Time’s self-titled first album in 1982. “Get It Up” is edited down to 3:01 from the 9:09 running time of the album cut. The B-Side, “After High School”, is edited down to 2:48 from the 4:22 album cut and gets a different spelling from the way it is listed on the album. “Get It Up” entered the Billboard Hot Black Singles chart on 8/15/81 and reached a high mark of #6 while logging 19 weeks on the chart. No activity on the Hot 100 for this single. The only credits listed on the single are “Produced by Morris Day & Jamie Starr”.
