The Brief:
Another release from Mic Murphy and David Frank. Actually, “Don’t Disturb This Groove” was the most successful single release of The System’s career. It comes from the album of the same name released in 1987. The single “disturbed” the Billboard Hot Black Singles chart on February 14, 1987 and achieved the #1 slot as it “grooved” on the chart for 21 weeks. It also enjoyed great success on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart, debuting on April 11, 1987 at #97. On June 6, 1987 at #23 it was the Power Pick/Airplay track of the week and eventually got up to #4 during its 21 week stay on the chart.
