The Brief:
How do you know that the 12” single and dance music in general is a very important influence in the music industry? I think one answer would be… when long time rock and roll acts that were never really known for their dance floor influence begin commissioning remixes and extended versions for their single releases. Surprisingly, for what would seem to be a weird combination, “I Want To Make The World Turn Around” works out pretty well as an extended dance-oriented track. The song comes from The Steve Miller Band’s 1986 LP ‘Living In The 20th Century’ and is documented to be the last single released by the band. The track went to #1 on the Billboard Album Rock Tracks chart and held that position for six straight weeks. The tracks on this 12” were remixed by Steve Miller along with David Cole (one half of the dance-music duo C+C Music Factory, which he founded with musical partner Robert Clivillés).

really a hard to find 12″,thanks¡¡
you’re welcome mrdisco!
I’d never heard the 12 inch of this. And,while this is documented as the last Steve Miller Band single,it should be pointed out that they returned in 1993 with the “Wide River” album and single on Polydor- however,no extended remixes are known.
but but… I read it on the Internet, it must be true! LOL
Thanks Richie. Didn’t have this one.
