The Brief:
Dexter Redding and Otis Redding III, sons of the late great Otis Redding, along with their cousin Mark Lockett formed The Reddings around 1980. Their fourth album was ‘Back To Basics’ and it was released in 1983. From that album comes this 7” single “Hand Dance” which is a slightly shortened edit of the album version which clocked in at 5:22. I have never been able find any info regarding an extended or remixed release of this song, which is a damned shame because I would really love to hear this one extended out about another 3-4 minutes. This track is definitely funkier than a plate of chitlins and collard greens!
