The Brief:
Here we have the first of two singles from their one and only album, ‘The Family’. The album’s material was composed nearly entirely by Prince but, credits were given to band members. This single, “The Screams of Passion” is credited to St. Paul/Susannah. The single entered Billboard’s Hot 100 on September 28, 1985 at #75. It topped out at #63 and spent 6 weeks there before falling out. On August 10, 1985 it entered the Hot Black Singles chart, making the top 10 by reaching the #9 position and stayed on the chart for 16 weeks. The single version of “Screams of Passion” is a shorter edit of the album version.
