The Brief:
From the remnants of The Time, Prince assembled The Family in 1984. The band included former Time members Jellybean Johnson, Jerome Benton, and Paul Peterson. Susannah Melvoin and Eric Leeds were the other two pieces of the puzzle brought in to complete the lineup. The band recorded one self-titled album in late 1984 and it was released to record stores on August 19, 1985. The lead single from the album was “The Screams Of Passion” which is presented on this 12” in its extended version and backed with the LP Version of “Yes”.
