lol I had this on 12″ Also on cassette single too
I was like 14 years old when i bought the “2 Live is what we are” album
There album printing press was bad
The record i had 3 or 4 paper (Labels) tags that i pulled right off vinyl
The rounds of the vinyl were not properly cute or shaved
I returned it and got the cassette version, which didnt sound as good as the vinyl
Thanks
You’re welcome Mike
As you can imagine, Me So Horny spoke to me more than this. LOL!
Doesn’t stop it from being a hot rap record though.
Thanks Richie!
you’re welcome Ric
Greetings from Germany! That record made a really strong impact here. The story behind it is that German DJ WESTBAM played the original album track in his DJ sets on heavy rotation (by request) until he and his partner Klaus Jahnkuhn remixed it without asking the 2 Live Crew and pressed it on their own label LOW SPIRIT. Some copies came to the US through Berlin stationed soldiers so WESTBAM got sued. As part of a deal they released it 1:1 on Skyywalker Rec. as Liberty City Long Hard Mix which actually was the Berlin Long Hard Mix. WESTBAM’s brother also became a DJ through the success of this record and gave himself the name DJ Dick (!!!). Under this alias his first ever release was “A Long Hard D…” (you guess it).
The last time I saw the (revived) version of 2 Live Crew was back in 1998/1999 when they did a show in my hometown in Germany. The show ended in a live sex show which had all things going like in Amsterdam. Not a real problem in Germany too, the show ended without interupting the program. After the show the 2 Live Crew went to prison in Hanau, Germany for about 2 weeks. In the papers I read that they tried to rape some girls after the show. That wondered me, cause some of the male audience got all f**** up by the group’s 3 female dancers. This Fresh Kid Ice is really living his music…
very nice story, thank you FP!
Not a hit here in Oz so I am curious to find out what all the fuss was about. Thanks Richie.
