The Brief:
For the second single from ‘Introducing the Hardline According to Terence Trent D’Arby’, D’Arby hit a home run, capturing the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 and the Hot Black Singles Chart. On this US commercial 12”, Francois Kevorkian was called in to remix the single. On the flip side we get two awesome non-album tracks; Terence does a masterful cover of Sam Cook’s “(What A) Wonderful World” and also gives us the wonderful, self-penned “Elevators & Hearts”.

    I’m seeing a pattern here….this is the week of two dreadlocked R&B singers from the late 80s.
    But what differing chart success they achieved on the Hot 100!
    This is such a brilliant song from Terence. So brilliant that I thought the US charts wouldn’t embrace it, especially since the debut single didn’t cause that big stir. Glad I was proven wrong.
