Side B:
Mothers Talk (Long Version) 6:18
Mothers Talk 4:14
The Brief:
For their first two albums, Tears For Fears were a four piece band that included keyboardist Ian Stanley and drummer Manny Elias. Oh, yeah, and two guys named Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith. “Mothers Talk” was actually the first single released in 1984 from their wildly popular ‘Songs From the Big Chair’ chart topping album of 1985. However, “Mothers Talk” did not chart in the U.S. until its re-release as a single in 1986. Following two #1 hits and a #3 in the U.S., “Mothers Talk” entered the Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart April 12, 1986 at #67, moved up to #27 and charted for 12 weeks. This 12” is a promotional copy released in 1986 and features a remix and re-recording by Ian Stanley, Chris Hughes and Dave Bates on Side 1. Over on Side 2 is the Long Version mix by Bob Clearmountain.
