The Brief:
Stars On, as they were know in the US, was a Dutch act known for their novel medleys of 60s and 70s hits that were released in the early 1980s. In June 1981 the “Stars on 45 Medley” single went to #1 in the US with a 41-word title that continues to hold the record for a #1 single with the longest name on the Billboard charts, due to the legalities requiring each song title be listed. In 1982, Stars On released their third LP, entitled ‘Stars on Long Play III’ in the US. Two singles were released from the album including “Rollin’ Stars” which was a medley of Rolling Stones hits.
