The Brief:
Starpoint were a U.S. based R&B group that released their first LP in 1980. The release of ‘Restless’ in 1985 led to the biggest chart success the band would enjoy in the course of their 10 album career. The single “Object Of My Desire” became their first and only Top 40 hit on the Hot 100 chart. Other singles that charted from this album were “What You’ve Been Missin’” and “Restless”. The LP spent 52 weeks on the Billboard Hot Black Albums chart, attaining a top position of #14. It spent 39 weeks on the Billboard 200 albums chart, topping out at #60. Two of the driving forces behind the band, lead guitarist Ernesto Phillips and lead singer Renee Diggs, passed away within 12 months of each other, in March of 2004 and 2005.
