The Brief:
In late 1989, Soul II Soul took over the airwaves of R&B radio and brought a fresh sound to a market that seemed to be growing stale. The group that started out playing records at house and street parties secured a recording contract with Virgin Records and released their first LP ‘Keep On Moving’ as it was titled in the US. The first single released to the US was “Keep on Movin’” which reached #11 on the Billboard Hot 100. The follow-up, “Back to Life (However Do You Want Me)” topped that success by reaching the top 5. The group won two Grammy Awards; Best R&B Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals for “Back To Life”, and Best R&B Instrumental for “African Dance”.

One of my most played 12″s in 1989! This is a classic single that defined the sound of summer in the UK that year and influenced the R&B sound in the US into the 90s!
    Thanks for your rip, Richie!
