The Brief:
The combination of a dance beat with Steely Dan’s “Do It Again” and Michael Jackson’s “Billie Jean” netted Slingshot their only charting single. A single only release, not in support of any LP, “Do It Again medley with Billie Jean” shot on to the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart on 8/20/83 at #89. It spent 5 weeks on the chart getting only as high as #75. It did get to #1 on the Billboard Hot Dance/Disco chart. And, over on the Billboard Hot Black Singles chart it debuted on 7/23/83, spent 11 weeks on the chart and rose to #25.
