The Glamorous Life (Club Edit) 6:33
The B Side:
The Glamorous Life Part II 3:12
The Brief:
OK all you Sheila-heads out there; this is the week you’ve been looking forward to… Sheila E. is arguably the most successful “protege” to come out of Prince’s camp and probably has the longest professional association with Prince as she still works with him to this day. Sheila was already working in the music business when she met Prince. She began working with him during the Purple Rain recording sessions and in 1984 released her debut album ‘The Glamorous Life’. That album produced three singles led off by the title track which is the record that kicks off our week long look at 12” releases by Sheila. So, kick back, relax and enjoy the ride…

This is probably my favourite Prince protege single.
It was quite a slow burner in 1984 in the Hot 100, charting alongside Scandals’ The Warrior.
I think it also ended in the Top 3 for the Annual Club Play Charts…together with Prince and Pointer Sisters.
A timeless song. Still gets any club moving. I do prefer the longer version on the album, though.
hi. thanks for all the Prince stuff this month. especially the Sheila stuff. I’d like to request the maxi singles from the Sheila E album era — those are the hardest to find, thanks.
