In 1988, Sheena Easton recorded and released her ninth studio album ‘The Lover in Me’. Easton enlisted top flight producers and songwriters for the effort bringing in L.A. & Babyface, Angela Winbush, Jellybean Benitez and Prince for various tracks on the LP. One of the Prince penned and produced tracks was “101″ which was the third single released from the album. This promo 12″ offers four tracks mixed by David Morales and the “Uptown Version” remixed by Prince.

Thank you – love Sheena
Great stuff, djrp!
I didn’t know there were that many mixes, multi thanks for this treat!
Thank you!
Thank you so much. Please rip everyone one you have of her 12 inches.
THANK YOU! I have been waiting for this gem of a Promo Single to be posted in such high quality for quite awhile! I actually had a Near Mint copy in my possession for a day or two. I had actually purchased it for another blogger and had sent it to them. Sadly, they never posted it.
This is my favorite Prince/Sheena collaboration. (“U Got The Look” being a very close second.) The album version of “101″ is so perfect, and I thought that had “Days Like This” performed well, “101″ was a sure-fire hit to be. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case.
Since I absolutely loved the album version, it was no coincidence that my favorite mix is the Uptown Version, as it was remixed by Prince. I like the Def House Mix, but just didn’t appreciate the Club-House feeling of it. When I first heard the Westside Mix, which was much later, I had actually preferred it to the Def House Mix. But still, the Uptown Version remains my favorite.
And…THE VIDEO for “101″! Wow! Sheena is smokin’ hot!
There U go! Just when U think U know everything about the man, and his ‘affiliates’ there apper 2 B even more mixes than I have on my 3” CD single. Never knew there was a promo.
Again, BIG thanks 4 all the hard work U put in!
Cheers,
PhilBoogie
Just puttin’ together a Black Album era disc and popped this on. Thanks.
