The Brief:
Shanice Wilson or just Shanice, is a Pittsburgh, PA born singer/songwriter that has been recording since 1987 at the age of 14. The first single from her debut album ‘Discovery’ was “(Baby Tell Me) Can You Dance” on A&M Records. The song was produced by Bryan Loren. Remixes on side A were done by Loren while the mixes on side B were handled by Shep Pettibone.

    Thanks Richie. Funny, just yesterday I found a cheap Ktel CD compilation ‘Dance Power’ from 1989 with this track on it. Crazy timing…lol!

    I have my share of ktel tapes and vinyls too! LOL!
    I remember first seeing Shanice on the US Version of Top Of The Pops, and thought she came across as a Janet-wannabe with this. Not a bad clone though, and with hot Pettibone Mixes. Thanks Richie!
    She would come into her own with I Love Your Smile a few years later.
