The Brief:
What came first, the album or the single? Pretty sure this is one of those cases where the single drove the album. The 12″ I have has a copyright date of 1981 while the album of the same name shows a release date of 1983. So, either way, Secret Weapon found success with “Must Be The Music” in early 1982. Since its release the song has been covered by numerous artists including Deion Sanders and World Class Wreckin’ Cru. Former band member Djuana “DJ” Thomas is now a radio personality on Atlanta’s WWVA-FM radio station.

Djuana Thomas is one of my best friends, too. She did radio here in Albany for over 12 years. I met her in 1999, and we’re still great friends.
Really? Where did she work? WJIZ?
She worked at 104.5 – I think it was The Zone or something. When I met her it in the fall of 1999, it had changed to Jammin’ Oldies. It changed formats again, but around Christmas of 2000, she made the jump to KISS-FM (102.3) until she moved to Atlanta in about 2009 or so (Maybe early 2010).
We hung out a lot. We tried to always go out for either of our birthdays, she came to my 40th at my house. We even hung out her house a few times, and had a blast. She’s been on my radio show a couple of months ago. I’m going to have her back to highlight Secret Weapon and talk about those days, at some point. She’s a super gal, and so funny.
