The Brief:
Rosie Gaines was introduced in 1990 as the new vocalist and keyboard player in Prince’s New Power Generation band. After her stint with Prince, Rosie went back to working on her solo career and released her fourth solo LP in 1995 entitled “Closer Than Close”. One of the singles from the album was “I Want U (Inner City Blue)” which is presented today with four different remixes from a promo 12”.
Was this a trend? Leave Prince’s camp and go to Motown Records? Vanity, Brownmark, Mazarati, Rosie… am I forgetting anyone?
