Side A:
Request Line (Vocal) 6:46
Request Line (Dub) 3:49
Side B:
The Roof Is On Fire (Club DJ) (Warning: (Explicit Ending) 5:31
The Roof Is On Fire (Break Dancers) 4:01
The Brief:
This is one of those 12” records that every DJ had to have in 1984/1985. Both sides of the record were huge dance floor hits and the phrase and hook from “The Roof Is on Fire” has endured over the years and been sampled too many times to count. “Request Line” was the A side that first charted on the Billboard Hot Black Singles chart on 12/8/84 and reached #21 during a 14 week stay. It also hit the Billboard Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles at #103. On the Billboard Hot Dance/Disco chart it debuted on 1/5/85, reached #56 and charted for 7 weeks.

I love the ‘Request Line’ – this was a great club hit in Europe. I remember that I had it on DJ tapes from clubs that a friend usually got for me. They mixed it with Euro synth-pop and it worked fine
