The Brief:
Richard Lewis Springthorpe was born in South Wentworthville, a western suburb of Sydney, Australia in 1949. As Rick Springfield he began beating around with various bands in Australia and moved to the US in 1972. His debut album, ‘Beginnings’ was released on Capitol Records in the US. By 1985, Springfield had enjoyed multiple sales successes on the singles and albums charts and released the ‘Tao’ LP. “Celebrate Youth” was the lead single and was the Top Debut at Cash Box the week of April 6, 1985. It went on to become his 8th Top 40 hit on the Billboard Hot 100.

I thought the remix made the song even better. Rick was already on his downhill slide by then, but the follow-up single, State Of The Heart, is one of my all-time favourites of his.
