The Brief:
I know, I said I wasn’t going to resume blogging until next week but, I kinda wanted to throw this one out here this week since it doesn’t really fit in with the typical records that I post. I would really appreciate some reviews and opinions on this LP so, download it, listen to it and give me your impressions. Thanks.
This 1976 LP was brought to me by a friend who had been unable to locate a CD copy of this record for many years (I am pretty certain it has never been pressed on CD). Gian Piero Reverberi is an Italian pianist, composer, arranger and conductor. He has worked in a wide range of media, including TV themes, spaghetti Western soundtracks, pop and rock records. Prior to working on this record for my friend, I had never heard it or heard of it. The record is a nice listen, mostly instrumental, almost a “Trance” like feel to it. The record was pretty worn by the time I got it so, it may not be as clean sounding as my other conversions but, if you want a nice listen or something to play softly in the background at a party (New Year’s Eve perhaps?), check this album out, I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks for introducing something really left of centre to what you usually do, Richie.
Took a listen and you’re right, this would certainly qualify as muzak in my books, with its blend of electronic and classical.
Thanks Ric, still looking for feedback from others…
A bit of a mixed bag to me, Richie. It’s not by any means bad, it has its moments, I just don’t find it that great either. I’m not a big fan of guitars (in most cases) and “modernised” classical music (apart from stuff like Jacques Loussier). I really enjoyed the slower tracks Cat Casanova, Soana and Penny though. The latter two both start off very Morricone-like, but drift off into… something else… All in all a 3 out of 5 stars album for me, but it’s growing!
Anyway, thanks for introducing me to this, never heard about it before. And sorry for beeing rather unenthusiastic towards the music (if my memory serves me right…) the (far too) few times I’ve commentet on your blog. As you would expect, that’s not representative for how I really feel. Why would I come here all the time if I didn’t love most of the music you post…? I’ll try to show more appreciation in the years(?) to come. And I’ve not kept it a secret that I love the sound of your rips…
Happy New Year!
Thank you for chiming in with your impression on the record. And, YES, please continue to do so, that’s all I really wish for more of from everyone that comes here, participate!
I went to download it with no much expectation but actually I liked it. As any other album there are themes I like better than others (no biggie). Thank you for introduce me to someone that otherwise I would not have a clue existed.
Ricki.
P.S. HAPPY NEW YEAR from Tennessee!
Like you I was skeptical but, surprised myself by actually liking it, too. Glad you enjoyed it. Happy New Year from Georgia!
Hi, to me it sounded like The Salsoul Orchestra meets Pink Floyd, sort of.
Also with a bit of Bebu Silvetti thrown in.
Its the kind of record i almost expect will turn up on the credits of a Portishead or someones LP with the legend ”featuring samples from….”.
Parts of it sound very familiar somehow.
The drummer credited is kinda ‘famous’ – I’m sure its the same guy who did this (U.K.) underground/gay club hit – ”Tullio De Piscopo – Stop Bajon (Primavera)” http://www.4shared.com/get/GD85bJiU/tullio_de_piscopo_-_stop_bajon.html
great post mr xx
ps Happy New year from Scotland ! xx
