The A Side:

Sensitivity (S + P Full Rub Mix)

The B Side:
Sensitivity (USA 12″ Mix)
Sensitivity (Ralph’s Rap)

The Brief:
Ralph Tresvant is an original member of New Edition and the primary lead vocalist on most of the band’s hit songs. In 1990 Ralph recorded and released a self-titled solo debut LP. He teamed up with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis to record the single “Sensitivity” and two other album tracks. “Sensitivity” turned out to be Ralph’s most commercially successful solo single and it helped push the solo album to the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot Black Albums chart as well as to #17 on the Billboard 200. For the week of 11/17/90 ”Sensitivity” was the Power Pick/Sales track at #34 on the Hot 100.

Well, that’s it.  An entire month of records produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis’ Flyte Tyme Productions.  We emptied out all of the Alexander O’Neal records from my collection but, there’s still more Flyte Tyme stuff.  Those guys were very busy during the 80s and 90s.  Hope everyone enjoyed it and for those not really into it, hope we didn’t bore you too much!

The Billboard Charts:

Hot 100 11/3/90 64 4 20
Hot Black Singles 10/27/90   1 20

Has it been a month already?
Funny How Time Flies When You’re Having Fun…LOL!
Never a bore for me ‘coz I always have time for Flyte Tyme!
A great way to cap an excellent four weeks of Jam & Lewis!
Everyone thought Ralph to be the breakout star from New Edition, but it turned out to be Bobby in the end!
Still, this is Ralph’s shining moment and another testament to the R&B cool of Jimmy & Terry!

Hi – just wanted 2 say that your ‘Jam & Lewis-athon’ was far from boring.
Prince was beyond huge in the U.K, and all things ‘purple’ were as well. Most fans knew of the J&L connection and and didn’t think of them as ‘rip-offs’ but coming from the same ‘stable’. And as this was the time of ‘Vinyl’ many of these mixes etc seem 2 have ‘missed’ the jump to CD never mind mp3 etc. So in short ‘Carry On’. Excellent work xx

yes Adam, as time goes on, it become less and less likely that many of these vinyl 12″ records will ever be reprinted on CD, I just hope that in some small way I am helping to preserve some of these gems

Interesting…the USA cd maxi Extended Club Version rolls in at 10:14 while this USA 12″ Mix is the same mix at 9:29 and simply fades out at around 9:19. Bummer. Usually it’s the opposite…numerous cd mixes that claim to be the same mix are shorter than their 12″ counterparts.
