The A Side:
Paisley Park
She’s Always In My Hair
The B Side:
Paisley Park (Remix)
The Brief:
Today we have another UK 12” that features the remix of “Paisley Park”. It’s another track that has not been made available on CD. This is the title track from ‘Around The World In A Day’ the follow up LP to ‘Purple Rain’. Released in 1985, Prince seemingly made a conscious effort to change his musical direction with this album by incorporating sounds and instruments not heard before on his previous releases. It received a mixed reception as most music buyers were expecting Purple Rain part 2. The song reached #18 on the UK charts, it was not released as a single in the US.

I’m lovin’ your Prince posts!!! This has always been one of my favorite tunes from him.
This was actually the first single to be released off that album in the UK while US went for Raspberry Beret.
I love both singles, but never understood why Paisley was never a choice single in America…not pop enough as Pop Life and not rock enough as America?
oh, and that B-side is one of my faves b-side from Prince

As always super super posts on the little Purple one….
Thanks for two great songs by the genius of Minneapolis.
Do you have also the 12″ of “Mountains” with the great b-side “Alexa De Paris”?

“This is the title track from the follow up LP to ‘Purple Rain’.” -> actually it’s not since the album title was Around The World in a Day…
Duh! Good catch! I know better than that, don’t know how I made that mistake.
