The Brief:
OK, up front, this technically is not a record from my collection. It is cobbled together from two sources. In 1997, on a visit to a friend’s house, somewhere in Texas, we had access to this record and we recorded the b-side using his turntable and computer to burn the tracks to an audio CD. So, I have pulled the spoken word tracks from my CDR copy that has been stored away for over 15 years and processed them as I normally do. The a-side is actually ripped from the b-side of my original copy of ”I Would Die 4 U” 7-inch single. The high resolution artwork credit goes to an anonymous donor.
The seven short messages by Prince, Apollonia and Sheila E. were designed to be played by radio stations before their songs. Prince introducing “Purple Rain” is actually an audio snippet from the movie Purple Rain.
This is a very rare record that is very hard to find. It ranges in price anywhere from $150-$300. So, until you are able to find your own copy of this record, here’s the next best thing!
Once again, I want to wish everyone out there in Fun With Vinyl-land a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! See ya’ll next year!

Where is the high-res artwork file?
Happy Holidays!
Artwork is always archived with the audio files. Did I leave it out by mistake?
I’ll confirm that it isn’t part of the MP3 download. But I downloaded the FLAC version and got it there. Thank you! Happy Holidays!
Thanks Christian, the mp3 file has been updated.
Merry Christmas, Richie.
What a surprise this was! Thanks.

Thanks For this Rare and Hard To Find recording ; Happy Christmas !!!!!
You’re welcome Jose!
Wow Richie !,
What a Welcome (and Time-ly xx) ‘post’ this ‘Chrimbo’ !
I personally thought you’d still be in the throes of all things Festive.
To have ‘posted’ anything, but Thanks all the same for this ‘Purple Present’.
I was at a Midnight Mass for Xmas so that may explain me sleeping through most of the day!
‘Are you a Christian Fr.’Teabread’ [we'll call him]‘ (A Bishop of Scotland no less)
‘Coz I didn’t know the correct ‘response’ for Holy Bread bit – I felt like saying
Are YOU !’
Pardon me for thinking a Real Christian would a laughed it off and ‘told me’ what to say – he ho – No I didn’t ‘swallow’ as it were.
If anyone ‘Upstairs’ is reading, I’m sure they will understand – I’m still a ‘nice’ Person.
You’re welcome Andrew, be a good lad, LOL
BUENAS, ESTE AÑO SIN QUERER DI CON ESTA SU PAGINA…Y EN ALGUNAS OCACIONES HE PASADO LLEVANDOME VARIOS DE SUS APORTES QUE SON DE GRAN IMPORTANCIA, POR TANTO LE AGRADEZCO MUCHO POR TODOS ESOS TEMAS QUE HOY PERTENECEN A MI COLECCION.

Hi Richie,
I was quite ‘Happily Atheist’, but of late I been reading a certain ‘Book’.
And the ‘advice’ has been ‘Spookily accurate’, or helpful @ least & that’s why I went along to a Midnight Mass.
I’m sure ‘Anyone watching Upstairs’, will see All ….etc xx
Gr8 Post and here’s to many more !
