The Brief:
“Alphabet St.” is the first single released from the ‘Lovesexy’ album and is the 12th of 18 Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 of Prince’s career. “Alphabet St.” also has the distinction of being the first Prince single commercially released on CD, in the UK and Japan, and on a promo CD in the US. The b-side “Alphabet St. (cont.)” has never been released on CD.

I’m going to guess that Alphabet St. is the post for June 7 because it came from the album cover on which Prince posed in his birthday suit!
heh, that’s pretty good but, I wasn’t that clever, purely coincidence
oh, that lovesexy album cover…don’t get me started on that!
love the nude masculine form, but not Prince’s unfortunately….
Thankfully I don’t feel the same about his amazing music!
Another Prince song banned on our local radios back in the days…
yeah, I really don’t rate that as one of my all-time favorite album covers, but, took a lot of balls to do that, just glad we didn’t have to see’em!
If I remember well the b-side is just the rap part of the song.
So basically what you get with this 7″ is the album version of the song cut in 2 and divided over the a-side and b-side.
yep, you’re basically right, quite disappointing considering how spoiled we Prince fans were up to that point with all the wonderful non-album b-sides we had been getting.
I never saw a copy of this, even when it came out, with a clean white sticker on it. The sticker is always oily, splotchy, and yellow. Not the best packaging idea.
