The Brief:
Helen “Pepsi” DeMacque and Shirlie Holliman were backing vocalists for Wham! before striking out on their own. The British duo released their debut album as Pepsi and Shirlie in 1987. It was entitled ‘All Right Now’ with the title track being a cover of the 1970 Top 5 song by the group Free. The first single released in support of the record was “Heartache” which reached #2 on the UK singles chart but, didn’t fare as well on the US pop charts, completely missing the Top 40.
