The Brief:
The second single from Pebbles’ debut album was “Mercedes Boy”. The song was written by Pebbles and produced by Charlie Wilson of the Gap Band. It was her second consecutive #1 on the US R&B charts and the highest charting song of her career on the Billboard Hot 100. The 12” release features remix work by Keith “K.C.” Cohen. The ‘Pebbles’ LP reached #14 on the Billboard 200 and #5 on the Hot Black Albums charts and was eventually certified Platinum for sales of over 1 million copies.

    Great post, I’m looking fwd to hearing the Dub & Instr. mix as you normally don’t find these on any of the various 80s compilation cds. I have bought quite a lot of them but they only feature the regular 12″ extended version.
