The Brief:
I’ve had all these Morris Day records ready to go for quite some time so, the month of September, in addition to being Pleasure Your Mate Month, is going to be dedicated to Morris. So, you know the drill, if you don’t like Morris Day… you’re going to hate September…
In Today’s entertainment news, Morris Day, famous singer of that popular rock group – won’t be saying what time is it anymore. As you know the group is no longer together. The question that most people seem to be asking is “What will Morris do now”? Well, we all know the answer to that by now don’t we? In 1985, Morris Day released his first solo LP entitled ‘Color Of Success‘ on Warner Brothers Records and taught us all how to dance “The Oak Tree”. The ‘Color Of Success’ album followed familiar form for Day as the album contained six tracks, just as the first three albums by The Time had done. We got a new dance, just as each Time album had provided “The Stick”, “The Walk” and “The Bird”, now we have “The Oak Tree”. Ok, well, maybe “The Stick” wasn’t technically a dance but, there were definitely some “moves” involved… This post is the commercial 7″ single edit released in the US and backed with the Dance Instrumental.
