Color Of Success is my favorite (solo) album from Morris Day – I have the CD & Oak Tree 12” – but had not heard the other releases. Thank you very much for all the posts!!
CoS was the best one in my mind, too. You’re welcome Tony, enjoy!
thanks
You’re welcome
I gotta tell you… I am a huge fan of Prince & all his 80′s paisley spinoffs!! So I love all the post of him & his friends. IMHO Morris was on a roll with his 1st two albums… but it started going down hill, at least for me, around the time of “Guaranteed”… now don’t get me wrong I bought it as soon as it hit the store just because it was Morris, it just never clicked with me. However…Mr. Jesse Johnson has never released a song or album that wasn’t a masterful stroke of MPLS Funk!!! I never really figured out why he didn’t attain the level of fame that Prince did… Anyways, Thanks for taking the time to rip, tweak, scan, upload & post all of this for our listening pleasure.Great blog!!
Actually, I felt that ‘Daydreaming’ didn’t live up to ‘CoS’, it had good songs but, wasn’t as solid as ‘CoS’ all the way through. Then, with ‘Guaranteed’, the bottom dropped out. Unfortunately, I feel pretty much the same way about Jesse’s albums. The 1st LP was top-notch from start to finish, ‘Shockadelica’ slipped a little bit and “ESoL’ didn’t resonate with me very much at all. His later LPs in the 90s and 00s I just never got into very much… Anyway, you’re welcome, please stick around and add to the conversation. I’m always begging for more participation here…
Thank you!
you’re welcome Johan
Yummy, don’t think I’ve seen this sleeve before, very cool. Thank you
