The Brief:
The last LP of all original material by Morris Day as a solo artist was released in 1992 on the Reprise Records label. ‘Guaranteed‘ was primarily produced by Morris but, Big Daddy Kane was brought in to rap and a bevy of co-producers were used to try and push Morris’ music in the direction of hip-hop. The effort turned out to be a commercial and critical failure. Two singles were released in support of the album and the first one out of the gate was “Gimme Whatcha Got”. This promotion only 12″ has remixes by Kevin Kelly and Bernard Belle.
