Michael Rodgers is the son of Pop/Country singer Jimmie Rodgers who charted 38 Top 10 singles as Michael was growing into adulthood. He took what he learned mixing records into the studio and co-wrote and produced a two song demo that found its way to Atlantic Records where his song “I Like it Like That” was featured in the 1988 movie Coming To America starring Eddie Murphy. Michael signed with CBS Records and went on to have three Top 10 singles on the Hot Black Singles chart.

Is it a special “Michael’s” week on FWV? LOL!
The only 12″ I have of his is his cover of It’s The Same Old Song. So thanks for introducing this here, Richie!
Thank you for sharing!
Omg I can’t believe what I’m seeing here!! You can’t imagine how long I was looking for this! You made my day! No – my whole month!
Heard about this post. Thanks for keeping some of my work visible. Wish I had these mixes on CD. All the best. Michael Rodgers
Mr. Rodgers, it means the world to me that you have taken the time to visit my blog and comment. To my ears, this song was the standout on the ‘Coming To America’ soundtrack. If you’d like, I’d be more than happy to burn some CDs of this vinyl conversion and send them to you. It’s not the master tape but, it’s better than nothing. Take care.
That would be great. Send me an email and I will get back to you with a mailing address. Thanks so much. That is very nice of you.
Michael
