The Brief:
1986 saw the release of Mazarati’s self-titled debut album on Prince’s Paisley Park Records label.  The band was produced by Prince’s bassist Brown Mark.  The first single from the album was “Player’s Ball”.  It debuted on Billboard’s Hot Black Singles chart on March 29, 1986.  It climbed only as high as #79 and spent 6 weeks on the chart before dropping off.  “Players’ Ball” made no noise at all on the Hot 100 chart.  Songwriting credit goes to Brown Mark.  The A-Side and B-Side both appear here in shorter, edited versions than they are on the album
