The A Side:
Players’ Ball (Extended Version) 8:10
The B Side:
I Guess It’s All Over (LP Version) 4:56
The Brief:
Former bassist for Prince & The Revolution, Brownmark worked with his former high school classmates, Mazarati, and got them signed to Prince’s Paisley Park Records in 1985. He produced their self-titled debut album that produced “Player’s Ball” as the leadoff single. The song disappointed on the singles charts, was unable to crack the Top 40 on the Hot Black singles chart and never saw the light of day on the Hot 100.
Next week… a whole week of Sheila E. 12” releases… stay tuned.
