The Brief:
With the regional success of “What Gets Your Body Hyped (XTC)”, Kyper got noticed by Atlantic Records and signed a recording contract that produced the LP ‘Tic-Tac-Toe’ in 1990. The title track was released as a single and reached the Top 20 on Billboard’s Hot 100. The song features samples from Yes’ “Owner Of A Lonely Heart”. The LP reached #82 on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
Today also features the addition of Cash Box magazine chart data to the blog. Cash Box began publication in 1942 and ceased print on November 16, 1996. The name brand was revived online in 2006. You can visit them on the web or on Facebook.

Thanks for bringing back some memories!
You are quite welcome.
Know I’ve been silent during your rap run, but just like to say “hi” to let you know I’m still around.
Have a great weekend, Richie!
I figured you weren’t digging on that stuff so much. Good news for you, it’s over.
Richie
Estuve esperando mucho tiempo este regalo. Lo agradezco de todo corazon. Tu sitio es genial, realmente espectacular.
Un abrazo de un amigo y seguidor de tu trabajo.
Richard
Gracias!
Thank you very much
You’re welcome Taylor
I surely appreciate all these rap-hip hop classic tracks. I am new here and I am loving it already! Got any Miami Bass Classics?
Yeah, I have a few MBCs but about to change gears for September so, stick around down the road and I’ll put some up here.
Thanks a lot Richie, this brings back good memories! I had just moved to Germany (Nuremberg) to go to university, and I was driving around in my grandmothers VW Golf, looking for an apartment for my girlfrind and myself… This is one of the songs I remember hearing on the radio. Really liked it then and still do.
I bought the Tic Tac Toe CD album used for 1 euro about a year ago. Just listened to it again, and while it’s certainly no masterpiece, I rather enjoy it… Like the electro sound. Do you have any Egyptian Lover, Richie?
You’re welcome Musicus, never bought the CD, just a couple 12 inchers. Sorry, no EL at this time.
Thanks very much. Ah — freshman year. Z Cavaricci’s were going out, and rap had a foothold of mainstream top 40 for good. Nirvana was right around the corner. All this led me astray from post-punk new wave. Happy and Sad times.
You’re welcome Mike, I have the same sentiments about this period in music.
Wow , this song bring back a lot of good memories to me, thanks for this HiQ vinyl rip.
Thanks PTB, enjoy.
