Excellent debut solo single and album from Ms White! One of my favourite 12″ from 1988!
And Karyn’s second and third R&B #1s are Superwoman and Love Saw It.
Superwoman even ended 1989 as the #1 R&B Single of the year!
Secret Rendezvous should’ve been the 4th straight R&B #1 but it only peaked at #4.
At least it went #1 on the Club Play charts and was the #1 for the year!
I think that’s a record for a female to top the annual listings on the Club Play and R&B with two different songs?
I could only think of Toni Braxton coming close. She topped the R&B charts in 1996 with You’re Makin’ Me High and the Club Play charts in 1997 with Un-Break My Heart.

sorry to say, that’s all of the KW I currently have. never liked “Superwoman” or “Love Saw It” very much, so I never bought’em. “Secret Rendezvous” should appear on these pages one day but, it won’t be soon

  5. With this album Karyn proves why it’s so important to have the right producers & song writers…. L.A. & BabyFace were definitely on a roll around this time… Thanks for taking the time to share this.

Daryl Simmons was also a former member of the group Manchild with Babyface. And he was very involved in the LaFace productions as well as songwriting with Babyface.
