Happy Easter Richie!
Hoppy Easter to you!
Great post. Always enjoyed these Freddy Bastone remixes. The Hi-Octane Mix actually runs 7:24 in length, and also appears in CD quality on the UK “Priest, Live & Rare” compilation and I think as a bonus track on a Japanese release.
Would love to see White Lion “Wait” (Extended Version) UK 12″ next – it has some nice additional parts in it. And maybe Charlie “It’s Inevitable” 12″ mixes from 1983?
That’s quite a discrepancy in time from what is listed on the record label. Was there another 12″ issue that was the full version or just on that CD?
Sorry, don’t have the White Lion or Charlie 12 inchers…
There is a 12″ for It’s Inevitable? Wow…news to me!
Thank you for that one – this is one of the rather embarrassing moments when I have to admit to myself that I like that song though normally I wouldn’t buy anything of Judas Priest; I usually dislike 80s ‘hair metal’ but this one and ‘I was made for loving you’ by Whitesnake are some examples of actually finding yourself humming to the tune and wiggling your toes
Yeah, I did go through a hair metal phase in the 80s but, was never a big fan of JP. Not familiar with the Whitesnake song? You’re not referring to the KISS song are you?
Oh -sure.. confusing Whitesnake with Kiss… – ‘Here I Go Again’ would be the Whitesnake song that would fit into the same category
LOL
Wonderful blog Richie…
I got the JP Epitaph singles box set and the “High-Octane Mix” isn’t included, but I did get it years ago on a “Promo-Only” or “Hot Tracks” release along with a killer mix of “You’ve Another Thing Coming” (isn’t included in the box set either). What kills me about these major record companies is they keep rehashing the same product instead of digging deeper in the vaults to find true rarities for the fans that are obsessive about having everything by their favorite artists.
Thank goodness for music enthusiasts like you.
Thanks Adam, very nice words and so true about the failings of the record companies.
I know why this single didn’t chart – their ”fans” thought JP was selling out by doing a dance mix of one of their songs. But,if you listen to the album mix,it’s danceable – this was their first use of guitar synthesizers on a Judas Priest album ever.
Thanks Richie. This wasn’t a hit in Oz.
