I have loved the music of Jeffrey Osborne since I Really Don’t Need No Light.
The debut album that contains those three hits singles is awesome, and the sophomore continued the streak with four more, and two of those are featured here.
Excellent post, Richie!
Thanks!
Thanks for the extended memories!
Dirk
My two favorite Osborne tunes… sweet! As much as I was a “Stay With Me Tonight” fan when this came out, I could not get enough of “Plane Love”. George Duke’s production on these is fantastic. And I’d forgotten that Hawk Wolinski wrote “Plane Love” — love his work (Ain’t Nobody, My Girl Loves Me, The Medicine Song). Thanks for this great post!
Thanks, I've been looking for the extended Plane Love for a long time.
I am looking for the extended version of I Really Don’t Need No Light that I heard on the radio when it first came out – it’s a little over 5 minutes long.
I see that there was a 4:27 US Promo version, 47 seconds longer than the 3:40 LP version. I don’t have that record but, I will certainly pick it up if I run across it. Can you remember if it is substantially different from the LP version?
