The Brief:
Sitting at the peak of her popularity in 1995, Janet released her first hits compilation ‘Design of a Decade 1986/1996′ and it contained a new song called “Runaway”. Released to radio as a single from the collection it became the first song by a female artist to debut within the top ten of the Hot 100 at the #6 spot. The song topped out at #3 but spent an impressive 14 weeks in the top 10. This promo release is a double record set featuring 14 different versions of “Runaway”.

I remember this is the time when Billboard changed their rules, and then you start having songs debuting in the Top Ten and then songs coming in at #1, led first by Michael Jackson You Are Not Alone.

The hip-hop remixes bring back happy memories. I remember being a kid and hearing those versions on the radio, they were only on the cassette single so they are extremely hard to find these days.
