The Brief:
Ingrid Chavez was first known, cryptically, to Prince fans as The Spirit Child on his 1988 ‘Lovesexy’ album. Chavez was encouraged by Prince to write 21 poems and he promised to make them into a poetry album together with her. In late 1987 the two of them went into the studio and, while Prince played a keyboard, Ingrid read through all 21 poems. Naturally, the project was then put on hold. Obviously, record executives had misgivings about the project and wanted some songs with sung vocals vice all spoken word. In the end, ‘May 19, 1992’ was released in 1991 with five spoken word tracks out of the total 11 tracks on the LP. One of those spoken word tracks, “Elephant Box”, was released as a single.

Hallelujah! Thank God for MF!
Always thought Ingrid could’ve been huge. This single might have been a little too quirky for mainstream, but Hippy Blood is catchy catchy catchy!
Heaven Must Be Near is cool too.
I have the commercial 12″ for this, so thanks for the promo ones, Richie!
There is a 2 record 12″ promo of Heaven Must Be Near / Hippy Blood that I would love to find a mint/near mint copy of. If anyone has one they’d like to donate to the blog, holla…
I have been looking 4 this as well, if I come across it I will surely contribute!
Hope you have better luck than I have had!
FANtasTIC ! gr8 ‘post’ mr xx
Thank U Adam
Great stuff. Downloading was no problem too. I had both FLAC’s downloading simultaneously at around 70Kb/sec.
Wonderful. Ingrid’s PP album is one of my favourite releases, really under-rated and under-promoted at the time of release.
Downloads about 300/400kbps too, Mediafire are usually good, no waiting and concurrent transfers – one of the better hosts I think.
So, I’m getting a warm fuzzy that Mediafire is a winner? How long should I give it before I start trying to rebuild the archive of all the blog files?
Mediafire is hands down the best host at the moment. Fingers crossed it stays this way. So far nothing has happened to my free account, but I must alert you that a friend who owns a Pro Account just had all his password protected files all deleted. FYI, Richie.
the download link is dead…just letting you know…hopefully the last week or so of postings will be on your new server very soon.
I bought this 2 album promo years ago, Never thought i’d hear it again
Thanks
