The Brief:
This promotional 12” of “Hard Day”, a track from George Michael’s 1987 album ‘Faith’, is a bit misleading based on the info on its record sleeve. The sleeve lists a special remix of “Hard Day” as the A Side and the Monogamy Mix of “I Want Your Sex” as the B Side. In actuality, the record itself is a double A Side of Shep Pettibone’s mix and a radio edit on both sides.

This is an excellent re-mix from 1987 which was so good it was included on the cd album Faith………
You’re welcome Gary, and the cool thing about this 12″ is this mix is 2 minutes longer than the one included on the CD plus, the radio edit wasn’t on there either. I’ve always liked this record.
You had me excited for a minute. I’ve yet to find a GOOD copy of the full 3-part version of “I Want Your Sex”. That Monogamy mix is hard to find. I’ve tried mixing them together from the CD rips, but the fade makes it a tad difficult to line up the timing, sound levels, etc. I do have a crappy MP3 of it, but I’m always on the hunt for the 12″ or otherwise.
Interesting, didn’t know that mix was hard to find. I just pulled that 12″ out of the cabinet and will put it on the turntable today. I’m in the process of recording a bunch of records right now. I also have 12 inchers of Faith, Father Figure and Monkey. Is there any interest in those?
This mix was actually extremely hard to find…the normal full cd had the same mix NAME but it was much shorter…Sony/Epic is notorious for doing this and drives me crazy…as well as is completely misleading for those of us looking to buy a particular mix.
Yes, I would love the Monkey mixes…some of which are on that double Faith re-issue, but not all.

Although I ALWAYS love these rips, I am going to try to comment on this website whenever the same mix(es) exist on cd format. For example, this mix (and more) exist on George’s Faith double-cd re-release cd in 2011. http://www.discogs.com/George-Michael-Faith/release/3330237

Typical, a nice reissue set that never gets released in the US, the UK gets all kinds of goodies that never see the light of day over here. Yes, I know the time of the track is wrong, I use the time listed on the label of each record (when listed) in my write-ups. They get a LOT of them wrong. I’m sure lots of folks would be interested in any links you can provide to CDs that contain the mixes I post, please do so…

George Michael was truly massive from 87-88 in the US.
1st artist since The Beatles to have two Billboard year-end #1 Singles (Careless Whisper for 1985 and Faith for 1988)
1st artist since Simon & Garfunkel in 1970 to have BOTH the year-end #1 LP and #1 Single with Faith.

I don’t think that “Careless Whisper” should count towards George, it was released on an album credited to Wham! and listed as “featuring” George. Poor Andrew, never gets any credit, he’s like the John Oates of Wham! LOL

no problem…and thank you as always…i have every cd single and 12″ on Wham! and George Michael from ’84 to current, but sadly some vinyl releases never made it to CD….i have those u mention on both cd and vinyl..wish Sony would release his back catalog, like Madonna has done…ohhh i would be in heaven….justsayin..anyway….lol…thank you again for the upload of Hard Day..i love it
