The Beat or The English Beat broke up in 1983. The band’s vocalists Dave Wakeling and Ranking Roger assembled keyboardist Mickey Billingham from Dexy’s Midnight Runners, guitarist Mick Jones from The Clash, bassist Horace Panter from The Specials and drummer Stoker from Dexy’s Midnight Runners and they began recording as General Public. The song “Tenderness” came from their debut LP ‘All the Rage’ and was also featured on the soundtracks of the films Weird Science and Clueless. Sound on this is perfect!
Bright and bouncy just like I remembered it.
Thanks so much for putting this up!!!
Appreciation for all you do (sound quality, art, nice write ups).
Takes me back to a different time and place (where music was my WHOLE LIFE) and every new 12″ I bought was an entirely new WORLD to me….
Thank you oldDJ for the very kind words.
To echo OldDJ’s comments, this is the best-sounding version of this 12″ I’ve ever heard.
In fact, I think the 7″ version sounded great too. I’ve got several versions on various compilations, but your rip is now the go-to versions for me. Thank you!
wow, don’t know what to say, you guys are so kind, thanks
Love the tinkling pianos in this and the Uh Uh Uh UH! LOL!
Great ’84 classic!
One of my 80′s favorites, underrated and underestimated maybe, but great remix, brought a lot of good memories. Thanks for sharing this.
you’re welcome PTB
I liked this post so much that I cleaned your scans of the cover front & back. I hope you don’t mind & I hope you like them.
Nice, and thanks for sharing with everyone.
Thanks Richie. Didn’t know there was a 12″ of this.
