The Brief:
Fine Young Cannibals were a British band formed in 1984, by bassist David Steele, guitarist Andy Cox and singer Roland Gift. Supposedly the band asked MCA Records to get Prince to produce tracks to complete the album. The label offered producer David Z, brother of Prince’s drummer Bobby Z. Fine Young Cannibals and David Z recorded three tracks together at Paisley Park Studios to complete the album, including this single “She Drives Me Crazy”. On its way to the top of the Hot 100, the single was the Power Pick/Sales leader on 3/11/89 at the #21 spot. Five weeks later, it hit Number 1.

Another fantastic Justin Strauss/Chep Nunez (RIP) combination. They seemed almost unstoppable in the late 80′s. Then Chep began doing his masterful work with Shep Pettibone (Falco’s “Do It Again” <–Fave, PSB's "Left To My Own Devices", + many others.) I'm rambling… Needless to say, thank you!

Looooooove this post! The Justin Strauss remix of ‘She Drives Me Crazy’ is easily one of my very favourite remixes of the 80′s/early 90′s, right up there with the extended mix of Information Society’s ‘What’s On Your Mind?’, Shep Pettibone’s mixes for Duran Duran’s ‘I Don’t Want Your Love’ and Madonna’s ‘Like A Prayer’ & ‘Express Yourself’, the Cole/Clivilles remix of Natalie Cole’s ‘Pink Cadillac’…well, my list of faves from this era is endless, but this FYC mix is near the very top.
Keep up the amazing work, Richie! Seriously, this site is an absolute treasure trove!
